Klairs Mochi BB Cushion Review
WELCOME TO FARRELLIA!
Hiya! My name is Shaleen- I'm a newly 21 year old from the bottom of the world with a skincare obsession.
I am utterly obsessed with this cushion for a number of reasons that I will jump straight into because I am far too excited to write this. The Klairs Mochi BB Cushion has been soooo popular in Korea- it was #1 cushion for a long time, then #3 which isn't surprising because it is so great and ah I'm gushing. This is the first makeup review I have ever done (I am much more versed on skincare) so bare with me and hopefully we grow together!
- Cutest packaging ever. It will instantly cheer you up even if it's 6am in the morning.
- Gives a satiny finish- very natural.
- Can be used three ways depending on how much coverage you are after.
- Lasts around about 7-8 hours.
- Works for both red and yellow undertones.
- Only comes in one colour which means that it is fairly limiting for anyone who does not have a lighter skin tone.
The Klairs Mochi BB Cushion is a cushion compact that features the cutest face ever which is a theme that runs throughout the product. The little mochi face appears on the outside, the puff and the inside seal that you peel off at the start. The face is adorable and was partnered with a dating app called Merry Between. It comes with the usual puff, cushion, bb cream set up. Up until now, most cushion compacts have had a lid in between the cushion and the puff which is great but means that it can be pretty vulnerable to evaporation and germs (ew). Klairs, on the other hand, has solved this problem with a unique twist lid that locks to secure the cushion inside. This feature really sets them apart from other cushion compacts and hopefully it will be used in the industry from now on! As with most Klair's cushions, they have a very limited collection of shades. I'm not talking about just two shades. I'm talking about one. This is a pretty big problem for all girls and boys who have a darker skin tone and Klairs really sell themselves short on that front. Other than that, the product claims to have natural coverage, healthy glow, anti-redness, brightening, colour correcting and hydrating which it does!
- Suitable for all skin types but only light skin tones.
HOW TO USE
- Pop open the compact and untwist (to the left) the lid to reveal the cushion.
- Press the puff into the cushion until the cream has been absorbed.
- Pat onto face- do not drag or rub!
- Pat from the inside of your face towards the outside for a more natural finish.
I cannot get enough of this product, mainly due to the texture. I haven't encountered such a natural finish/soft focus effect on a bb cream which is my absolute must when it comes to face products. I don't really wear foundation and never have so to find a bb cream that did exactly what I was wanted was like a dream come true. The mixture is so silky and it just glides onto your face! It doesn't adhere to any part of my face and is very easily spreadable so you can work up coverage in certain areas if you need it. It does a seriously good job of covering up redness at the same time as looking totally natural and not cakey- my main concern. It leans towards having more of a dewy finish than a matte finish but does not get oily throughout the day on my skin. I have fairly normal skin at this point so I can't say the same for someone with oily skin, however if you used a setting powder it will definitely sort that out! As always, it's lasting power does largely depend on your makeup routine and application. My recommendation would be to apply it on top of your skincare routine because it seems to last longer this way. I do not set my makeup (because I am lazy) and it lasts for about 6 hours before redness around my nose and any active spots start coming through again. If you do set it I imagine that it will last a little while longer! It is very buildable so is suitable for light and medium coverage needs. At the beginning, you will need to work the cream into the cushion in order to soak up the product regardless of your coverage needs. This will make the process much easy instead of struggling to pick up the cream every time. If you want even higher coverage, use tweezers to flip the cushion so that there is more available product!
- Here is a fab review by Edward Avila that does a pretty stellar job of describing the three coverage uses as well as the cushions effect on oily skin. He tries it out for the entire day and updates his opinion every few hours. Definitely one to check out!
I would probably not recommend this product for somebody who is after very high coverage as it simply will not give you what you're after. It is more aimed towards those with less active acne and those who aim to cover their redness/ brighten their complexion. Redness and pore-coverage was what I was after so you won't be surprised when I tell you that this product is the cushion of my dreams.
It's relatively hard to get hold of in New Zealand (shipping is expensive to say the least) so when Wishtrend had their Black Friday sale, one of my closest pals (and fellow kbeauty lover) and I went halves on the shipping cost to ensure that I had a back up and so that she could finally try it out after my constant raving. And she loves it!
1/5: Negative, nada, no.
2/5: Definitely not enough magic to consider re-purchasing.
3/5: It had its effects but there are many more products out there that do better.
4/5: Going great! Going to keep using until I find something more effective.
110208/5: Holy grail! I love this product so much, I've already bought a second and will probably buy another one in the next few months :)
I am pretty sure Klairs is apart of the Wishtrend website so I would recommend buying straight from there! From time to time they also have deals like buy 2 for the price of 1, free shipping etc.
